Adult Ed Class - Sunday July 29th

This is a message from the July 29th Adult Ed Class at All Saints. The (very blurry!) picture I took during class finally uploaded on our slow connection.

(For any of you wondering what this message is about, I led the Adult Education class at All Saints on Sunday July 29, 2007. I gave a brief talk on web resources and how they can be used to facilitate church activities. Along the way I showed my audience our "Twenties and Thirties" blog, took a picture of the attendees, and posted the picture with this blog entry). -- Joey

Just a reminder about the fall Art of Engaging Sacred Scripture small groups. This is a faith formation program written by a very good friend of mine who is the Rector of St. Barnabas in the Desert Episcopal Chrurh in Scottsdale Az. Jime is a great guy and has written a very thorogh faith formation curriculum using scripture as prayer that opens us to the prompting and leading of the Holy Spirit. The curriculum covers a year (3 parts) and will begin in september. We are looking for groups to "self select" and this is a GREAT opportunity for T&T's to do something "spiritual" and get to know one another on another level than strictly social. If you can gather 5-7 members or so and let me know when/where/time you can meet I will assign a trained small group facilitator from the group Jim is coming to train. These are all folks from the parish who have completed the first year. Pray about this and let me know and I will assign a leader. You can rotate homes, use the church, meet at another location or whatever. The first class is the "meta narrative" and introduces the art of engaging sacred scripture and covers the "big picture" as in creation/fall/incarnation/new creation. It introduces the scriptures and more importantly the Spirit that informas them and us. Let's talk if you have any questions.

Another new option. I am going to have a contemplative prayer period mondays and fridays starting the second monday in September at 7:05am in the church. this will be followed IMMEDIATELY by a contemplative (no frills) rite 3 eucharist with an option for anointing for healing. if you are inclined to pray and receive the eucharist to begin and end your week do come. i will be holding some introductory classes in christ centered prayer as the fall gets underway. come and rest in the silence. it is a good way to start the day. i want us to pray and break bread and be able to get to school/gym/work having spent time with the Lord first! let me know if you have any questions. sandy+
